Look at these pictures for a moment.

I took these four photographs from the stage run, at four different Coheed shows in four different places. Look at all these different people and at their identical excitement and pure joy. No matter who they are, no matter where they are… the shared thoughts are clearly translated. That is the magic of the Fence.

From Jersey to Toronto, from Omaha to Vermont - a Coheed crowd is a Coheed crowd and they are an entity unto themselves. In these crowds are a handful of my dearest friends, a couple of enemies, and an uncountable number of strangers. But whether we are rockers, geeks, or punks; whether we are black or white or gay or religious or in a wheelchair; whether we are Amory Wars enthusiasts or simply music lovers, we have come for the same reason and we feel the same fierce happiness when the lights dim and the opening note is struck. We are all there for one purpose. And a stranger will never again be a stranger after you have witnessed a Coheed show with them - you will always have at least one thing in common.

How can it be claimed that any one individual loves our universe under the Keywork more than the next? How can unadulterated love be measured by merchandise, tattoos, show counts, or years spent listening? If you were in these crowds, could you look at the boy next to you screaming his heart out during the chorus of In Keeping and think, “I am a bigger Coheed fan than you”? ‘Scuse me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure the only thing you’d be thinking is “Man your own Jackhammer!” just like the other 3,000 fans alongside you.
